Identify the unit and its current setup

A request to remove an “old appliance” can describe very different jobs. A spare refrigerator in the garage may already be easy to reach. A dishwasher could still be connected under a counter. A washer and dryer may be stacked in an upstairs closet.

Start with the type, approximate dimensions, and location. Send a photo showing the surrounding space, not only the front panel. Tell us if the appliance is built in, mounted, stacked, or attached to anything else.

If you are replacing several units, make a complete list before requesting appliance removal. The estimate needs to cover every piece and every location, including a second fridge in the garage or an old dryer outside.

Separate preparation from hauling

Hauling an appliance away is different from disconnecting or installing it. Tell the removal team which connections have been handled and which are still in place. Arrange appropriate qualified help for gas, electrical, plumbing, or HVAC work when needed.

A replacement installer may include removal of the old unit in its service. Ask that question before booking a separate pickup. If the old appliance will be left on the property, find out where it will be staged and whether it will be ready to move.

For refrigerators and freezers, remove the contents and explain any water connection. For washers and dryers, mention stacking kits, pedestals, and whether the machines are ready for the agreed haul-away. You do not need to attempt a difficult disconnection yourself to request an estimate.

Look at the entire route out

Measure or photograph the tightest point between the appliance and the loading area. A kitchen doorway, stair landing, or narrow side gate can determine how a unit needs to be moved.

Include the floor level, steps, and approximate carry distance. Let us know about water, uneven surfaces, or a change in floor height in front of an installed appliance. Those details are more useful before the appointment than after the crew arrives.

Keep the work area free of dishes, detergent, baskets, and personal belongings. If other people are working on the replacement, confirm who will be responsible for preparing the old unit and who will be present for pickup.

Confirm the removal list and timing

Tell us if the old appliance must leave before a new delivery, a tenant move-in, or a contractor visit. We’ll discuss availability for that window. An urgent request still needs a confirmed appointment.

Mention other items you want removed at the same time. Cabinets or building materials from a kitchen project belong in a construction debris request, even if they sit beside the appliance.
